Walk Away from Me
Today the sky opened wide and glanced my way
I stared down at the ground, though
as I walked
the clouds danced a little jig hoping to make me smile
I casually turned my head and looked the other way
the wind puckered its lips and softly blew in my face
I cringed
the trees shook their mighty arms to gently drop leaves around me
I crushed them under my feet
I walked until the sky was covered by the clouds
I looked up
The wind stopped blowing and I opened my eyes wide
the leaves were all gone from the trees
broken on the ground crackling as I walked
I watched my step
Today I did not see
I stared down at the ground, though
as I walked
the clouds danced a little jig hoping to make me smile
I casually turned my head and looked the other way
the wind puckered its lips and softly blew in my face
I cringed
the trees shook their mighty arms to gently drop leaves around me
I crushed them under my feet
I walked until the sky was covered by the clouds
I looked up
The wind stopped blowing and I opened my eyes wide
the leaves were all gone from the trees
broken on the ground crackling as I walked
I watched my step
Today I did not see

Waves of Green
Washing away the sorrow of loss
the wind embodies my soul
Rushing waters flow over
my dry, broken body
Filled with glorious warmth
No longer flying on my own
The earth below. So green.
Beautiful, organic.
The grass flows as breaking waves
headed toward the shore,
on a luminous night.
Back to the ground,
dried off by the air,
clothed, purified,
empowered with strength
To move forward.
the wind embodies my soul
Rushing waters flow over
my dry, broken body
Filled with glorious warmth
No longer flying on my own
The earth below. So green.
Beautiful, organic.
The grass flows as breaking waves
headed toward the shore,
on a luminous night.
Back to the ground,
dried off by the air,
clothed, purified,
empowered with strength
To move forward.
